MAVERICK ROVER WORLD TRAVELS
POST #71

Puigmolto, SPAIN

PUIGMOLTO, SPAIN

First off, a short visit to Puigmolto took us to visit friends Jennifer, Ana (former friends from San Diego, CA) and son Asier.

To the west of the urban core, next to the Vilanova road, there is the Puigmoltó aggregate. It has been documented since 1333, although there is news of a Pere de Puigmoltó in 1286. Its alleys of white houses, many of them modernly restored, maintain the old structure and many elements of its traditional agricultural activity.

We easily made friends with their dog, Blu and son, Asier

Remember, we are those guys who love to pet sit and spend time
with our five grandchildren, so this was a no brainer for us.

A mid-afternoon rainy day took us into Sitges for paella, the national dish of Spain

Valencia, SPAIN

Valencia Flag

After six years, we are finally back to Valencia, a long awaited adventure.  2020 halted our travels due to COVID-19 and then 2021 halted our travels due to Ron's complicated total right hip replacement surgery. Let's just say that it did not go well, but finally in 2024 we are back on the "road again." Our travels, now a a bit modified, since Ron now walks with sticks and Roger has been dealing with sciatica off and on.

All that being said, life is good in our Vintage Mobile Home, all of about 700 square feet +or- in Palm Springs, CA which serves us well as our home base. This trip is our first international travel other than a couple of months in Mexico in the interim.

Valencia greeted us with open arms during the annual
FALLAS FESTIVAL

FALLAS is an annual event, that occurs only in Valencia.  It takes a year of planning and design of the statues to prepare for each each year's Fallas event.
The actual Fallas Festival, along with the intricate construction
process, lasts for about three weeks.
They are made of paper, wood, cotton and a sustainable sort of plastic.
Once the statues are completed they are all burned to the
ground within three days on March 19th.

These statues are built on street intersections all around Valencia
with themes such as Sustainability, Politics, the 5 Senses and Comedy.

The following statue, in particular, touched us because it is
Gay Themed

The title is
"Mama I'm Gay"

Check out the names of those honored in this exhibition

Good Bye for now, with a final door photo;
this one is of a car rental office in Valencia
