MAVERICK ROVER WORLD Blog #47. Buenos Aires (week 4) 3/9/2019

ARGENTINA
(week four)

"It's not a vacation,
it's a lifestyle"

BUENOS AIRES,
ARGENTINA

Casa Rosada
The Pink House
Executive Mansion and Argentina House of Government
(it's pink because there was debate about
weather to have it white or red,
so they chose pink to satisfy everyone)

contrasting architecture just across the canal
are high rise condos

connecting all this beautiful architecture
on either side of the canal
is Puente de la Mujer
(Woman's Bridge)
the inspiration and design of
Santiago Calatrava

Calatrava also designed the new
Westfield World Trade Center Mall in NYC
called Oculus
(if you haven't seen it, I suggest you Google it)

*

Abasto Shopping Mall
near our apartment

inside the mall is this, ever so cute,
Küsta Hair Salon
it's a two chair salon in a mini-trailer

*

Ceiling of the Buenos Aires train station
Estación Retiro-Mitre

The stunning architecture of Buenos Aires
goes on, and on, and on with
European influence

*

Carnival
is not as elaborate in BsAs,
as it is in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,
but there are shades of influence throughout the city
on the weekends of March

*

Although this street vendor selling
Ostrich Feather Dusters
is not Carnival,
we think it almost compares

*

Here are a couple examples of
Public Art
as seen throughout the city

*

This is not street art,
but rather the name of a clothing store that we
COULD NOT RESIST
photographing since we were both born in
1947

*

Oh No!
what's wrong with this picture

Well the food was good, anyway.

    1. Love that Calatrava Bridge!
When I was there, I said to my snooty tour guide, "there is a
Calatrava Bridge!" He seemed stumped and when he looked it up---indeed it was Calatrava!
I've never been so happy to be right!
