Something to think about.
"People are prone to think that
what they are accustomed to
is good and right,
and whatever is foreign to them
is mistaken and harmful."
Jigoro Kano, Japanese polymath
The essence of Kano's quote is the very reason
that we are choosing to break down barriers in our own lives.
Our MRW travels afford us the opportunity to explore and accept the unknown.
Please join us in this exploration,
if only by reading our blog.

The People of Puerto Vallarta
The People of Puerto Vallarta
have captured our hearts.
Getting ready for a festival
It is near to impossible to explain the kindness the Mexican people have shown us, the patience they have with tourists and the work ethic they endure. We have had smiles, hand shakes, gestures of acceptance and hugs. We have spent time working on our Spanish with them, we have eaten their amazing food, we have walked on the cobblestone streets they have built, we have ridden on their buses with them for a mere pittance of cost.
The bus drivers are cautious drivers in a hectic environment, kind and patient while they help tourists sort out payment, assisting with stop information for specific destinations and all this while they are collecting the fare, issuing your pass, driving the bumpy roads, shifting the stick shift gears and negotiating crossing pedestrians and vehicle traffic.
Recently we were looking for a bus to leave the city for the day and stopped at a bus stop, which was the wrong one. A young boy of about 15 years old could see that we were perplexed, so he told us where the stop we needed was located and then even offered to walk us to that bus stop.
The vendors selling their wares are engaging and kind without being aggressive or invasive. They are just trying to make a living.
On the narrow sidewalks we make every effort to honor the local people, and step aside so that they can pass comfortably, especially if they are elderly or a mother with child. We find that the local people are equally as respectful.
Family is an important part of the Mexican culture. Children and babies are everywhere, they are so fun to watch while playing, running, laughing, holding onto mom & dad and giving an occasional, Hola.

The musical spirit of everyone, young and old, is delightfully enjoyable to see, while day to day life is one of hard working and passionate people.
Celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe
*
The music scene does not end on the street, but is part of almost every venue from dining to art openings and beyond
There are at least three different Art Walk areas on alternate evenings, with easily 50 galleries around the city
There are street artists everywhere with
special events like this chalk art display

Take time out: Travel is a full time job, whether you are on a world tour or on a short vacation; however, it is important to take time out to reflect on yesterday, enjoy today and contemplate tomorrow. It will bring you both a sense of calm and accomplishment.
