Historical Buildings
are found throughout Budapest,
some in various stages of disrepair
as can be seen in this photo
there is an amazing amount of restoration
going on all around the city
by talented artisans
(this one is restoring plaster wreaths)
buildings abound that are in full repair

Travel is easy from the
Pest side of the Danube
to the Buda side
(or vise versa)
via the Chain Bridge
Sźechwnyl Chain Bridge
built 1840-49
which was the first permanent
bridge built in Budapest.
(Before this, one had to travel to Vienna,
a three hour drive, to cross the Danube.
Today there are seven bridges between Buda & Pest
*
In addition,
there are two options to cross
UNDER, yes under, The Danube
via the subway M4 (shown here)
or the M2
Szent Gellért tér station on the Buda side
Almost looks like you could eat off the floor, almost
and
Fovám tér station on the Pest side
Ceiling of the subway station just under The Danube River
*
Central Budapest Cemetery
Every grave in this section reveals a
death date of 1944-1945
WWII
other individual graves have
very different and unusual
markers based on ones
historic importance or wealth
*
Equestrian arena where we witnessed
a competition of
male and female riders, mostly Hungarian
*
Well, and then there is the
and the Hungarian beer at Púder Bärszinhäz,
second to none
*
*Weather: At least in the springtime, carry an umbrella if the weather even suggests clouds or rain. The rain here is wet.
*Cost: Foreign currencies can be confusing. The Magyar forint, Hungarian currency is no exception. 1000 Forint is equal to about $3.40 USD. So, this will get you a top quality cappuccino; sitting with a relaxing view of the local culture is free. A glass of wine is about the same price with the same vista.
