BUENOS AIRES,
ARGENTINA
One such famous person interred here is
Eva Peron
the famous Evita
of the Duarte Family
Eva Peron grew up poor and later became an actress. She married Juan Peron,
President of Argentina. As First Lady, she supported women's rights and the poor, while becoming a legend in her own time before she succumbed to cancer at the age of 33.
The stage play Evita is based on her life. the famous song "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" relays the story of he imminent death to her country.

El Ateneo
a former stage theatre
now converted to a book store,
probably THE most amazing book store
we have ever seen.
The coffee shop is on the stage of the old theatre

A quick transition to food and wine
seems appropriate at this point,
since Valentine's Day was upon us.

Doggone Right
we love this city, and so does this dog walker.
He actually has 18 dogs here, seriously.
Many small dogs, of which you cannot see in this photo.

We were fascinated by this building,
Palacio de Agues Corrientes
(Palace of Running Water)
We thought it was a presidential palace,
or a hospital / sanitarium, but it was
built in 1889 as the water pumping station of Buenos Aires,
way ahead of its time.
It houses a small museum of toilets, urinals and pump station parts.
I think
Marcel Duchamp
would have had a hay day with this facility
as he used this urinal as a piece of art.
He signed it R. Mutt,
so no-one would know who was submitting it
for an exhibition.

A quick transition to food and wine
seems appropriate at this point,
since Valentine's Day was upon us.
We especially like this little cork holder
created by our server with the
metal seal of the wine bottle.

Obelisk that commemorates
the Quadricentennial of the first
foundation of the city
