Welcome to MaverickRoverWorld,



Ron & Roger will be giving you a taste of the big wide world of travel. After downsizing most of our belongings we will now have the freedom to Rove around the World at our leisure.  We have bought and sold so many homes, always thinking it was "the one" that would make us settle down. Although every home had its perfect qualities, our wanderlust never subsided.  The final answer is that no one home seems to win over the idea of adventure.  What defines us is experiencing the unknown.  If you like this idea and want to join us, simply log in to MaverickRoverWorld.blogsopt.com and tighten your seat belts.

Of course, as most of you know, we have already done a good bit of world travel, which only whetted our appetite for more. The more is now beckoning fiercely. Once all of our details of downsizing, selling and planning are finished we will be on our very first World Adventure of this new life to Valencia, Spain, where we will spend three months.  On a previous three week trip to Spain we experienced Valencia for the first time, it was love at first sight. On that trip we started in Barcelona, a city we truly love and will certainly return; then we traveled by high speed train to Madrid, an ancient city with more art and class than one can utter; then to Seville, a quaint flamenco dancing center and the ruggedness of bull fights;  then to Valencia, our dream city on the Mediterranean Sea;  and then back to Barcelona where we enjoyed walks on Las Ramblas, in our favorite neighborhood of  El Eixample, rides on the funicular up to Montjuic, and tasting amazing food at Plaza Monumental de Barcelona, the onetime bullring that is now filled with restaurants and shops.  We also visited La Vila Olimpica del Poblenou, the 1992 Olympic Village atop the St. Marti district.


We have a short junket to Mexico City, Mexico; in early February 2018.
We also have another short junket to Portland, Oregon; in mid-February 2018.
Then, finally to Valencia, Spain; in early April 2018.

    Can't wait to follow your adventures and live vicariously! Bravo, for being so spontaneous and trusting your instincts to free yourselves of home 'anchors' and taking flight. Would love to take my teenage granddaughter on a grand European adventure. Would love your recs re: Spain - Valencia or Barcelona?

MAVERICK ROVER WORLD Post #6 April 27, 2018 Valencia, Spain Another door to contemplate   Most mornings we go to the outdoor gym area for some self-imposed yoga, some sit ups and several sets of upper body workout on the machines, then back to the apartment for breakfast. On an afternoon walk from our apartment we walked along the Turia Riverbed Gardens, as we often do. Every time is a new experience. This day we explored the:  Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) which houses the  Oceanografic,   the largest of its kind in Europe with  marine animals from the seven seas.    Hemisferic, has a heavy lidded eye structure as its surface, it includes an IMAX theatre.  Palau de las Artes  Palau de les Arts , the worlds largest Opera Auditorium The City of Arts & Sciences also houses the world renowned Berklee School of Music, ...

MAVERICK ROVER WORLD  Blog Post #82 PARIS, France   Paris Metro Definitely a life saver since we are convinced that we probably spent 20% of our time underground in the massive metro system traveling in and around Paris. This is not a complaint  because there was so much that we experienced.  Getting around Paris on the Metro is vey easy.  All you need to  do is purchase a Metro card for 2€ (Euros) at most subway stations, and then you can load the card with as many rides as you like. The card can be reloaded at anytime. You simply tap in with your card at the entry for the ride of your choice. The cost is about 2€ per one way ride, as long as you keep going in the same direction you never pay again no matter how many transfers you take.  Then your return will be another 2€, and so on.
